Colombia (2008)

Escuela Audiovisual InfantilThe Children Audio-visual School (EAI) of Belén de los Andaquíes (Caquetá) was born in December of 2005 when, thanks to the initiative of Alirio González, the children of this town had access to a digital camera and began to experiment. There were children behind the camera, running, playing with it and this way they realized that they had a new way of telling their stories with images. Tomando Conciencia has chosen to collaborate and to finance the construction of the new EAI because it is a project born and developed in the same territory. In addition, it supports elements of the Colombian culture and teaches the children of Belén to generate, create and think about their own project for life,. The department of Caquetá is one of the worst damaged by war and illicit cultivations. The war is sustained by people who do not believe in themselves, and young people with no hopes is a good way to feed it.. You can visit the EAI blog and enjoy the children’s films at (http://escuelaaudiovisualinfantil.blogspot.com/). We specially appreciate the collaboration of Alirio Gonzalez (Founding and Director of the EAI), Shelter Cadavid (Professor of the Javierana University of Bogota) and Camilo Tamayo (Rresearcher in Communication and Culture).
