On Thursday April 12, 2012 its the official presentation of the book “Històries sense futbol” by Joan Valls at FNAC Illa Diagonal, Barcelona at 20:15 h. Some of the profits raised will go towards the social project of Tomando Conciencia “From the Streets to the Fields”.

“Sport has the power to inspire and unite people.” While the Spanish squad made history in the unforgettable World Cup on the African continent, at the same time, a junior football championship was played where three of its participants had the great opportunity of meeting their football idols. This is the photographic reflection of the dream of social cohesion that inspired the words of Nelson Mandela.

The inauguration will be on Thursday 3rd of November at 7pm at YellowKorner (C/ Consell of cent, 345). If you buy a photo in the exhibition during these days will give you a DVD of the documentary ‘From the Steets to the Fields’. The exhibition will be at YellowKorner from the 3rd to 5th of November.

Tomando Paella 2011 - Bicycles for Cambodia (4th of June)

One of our aims for this 2011 is to collaborate with the NGO HVTO buying bicycles and bags for the students of the school of the villages of Sophy and Sreth (Siem Reap, Cambodia). Because of the lack of public transport and economic resources added to the distance that have walk every day, many boys do not assist to the school and remain working in the field.

Tomando Conciencia has decided this year to donate all the money collected in Tomando Paella, that will be happening the next 4th of June in Vilassar of Mar. In this project also collaborates the organization of the 3a pedalada of Sant Andreu of Llavaneres that will take place on 29 May.

Premiere documentary “From the Streets to the Fields”

Thursday 17 February at 8:30pm premiere the documentary of our last project “From the Streets to the Fields” at Edifici Imagina (Avda. Diagonal 177-183), which helps us to explain the social action that we carry out in collaboration with Richard Allen Foundation in city of the Cape Town (South Africa) during the World Cup. At the premiere will assist the godfathers of the project: Carlos Kameni, Luis Suárez and Andrés Iniesta.

During the months of June/July of 2010 TC will support Richard Allen Foundation, a project based on football team of Camps Bay (Cape Town, South Africa) that has a peculiarity that characterizes it from the rest of teams: it is fromed by children of different social background and different races. Grant, the coach, through the game, has integrated a team that participates in a regional league and has achieved something exceptional: the lack of importance of the color of the skin.

Back from Colombia! (september 2009)

After a hard month working and an incredible summer in Caquetá, the eight volunteers are back.
During our stay we have been involved in several projects with the children: a video about colombian war victims, a ficcion shortmovie and a documentary about the responsible use of water. We have also helped several students being directors of their first movies. You can see here the results.
The results are better than expected because we have not only learned, we have also buildt a new working space for the children, where they can develop all the ideas and filmming activities.

On Tuesday 4th of August, 8 voluntary, professionals of the audiovisual world, will carry out during 3 weeks audiovisual workshops with the students of the Infantile Audiovisual School that will consist shooting and editing of 3 short movies. Also on Saturday 22nd of August will present in premiere the documentary ‘Sin história no hay cámara’.

Sunday 24th of May we have an appointment with the world of the education in the free time, with the groups of theater, animation, clowns, of puppets, with the children of all Catalonia, the families… And with all the colors of the world! The Tronadá09 organized by the Foundation La Roda.

We will present/display photomovies made by the young students of the Foundation Arsis of Badalona from the 11:00 until 15:00h. You can see a sample on here.

Tomando Conciencia invites you the next Saturday 16th of May, beggining a 1p.m., to Ca l’Amell (Vilassar de MAr) to the 3rd edition of ‘Tomando Paella’ A day loaded with surprises, gifts, drawings, live music with Oniric, the performance of the magical ilusionist Sermagic and the greatest paella you have never seen. We hope to see you from noon to enjoy a day outdoors with friends, family and activities for the little ones. The totality of the benefits will be destined to the construction of a new multidisciplinary classroom in Belen of the Andaquíes (Colombia) where last year we financed the construction of the Infantile Audiovisual School. This school is now a cultural and artistic center where the little ones learn new offices that allow to move away from the problems related with the war in which its country is immersed.

Teenager fight for PEACE (23.04.09)

Thanks to the voting of the students of the Col·legi Badalonès Tomando Conciencia will be able to focus in the project related with constructing water pumps for the poorest families of the little town of Sophy, Cambodia, where 3 years ago we constructed a school. From our organization we want to thank to all the students of the institute who have trusted and supported this project that will improve the quality of life of many Cambodian families. Next 23rd of April, Sant Jordis day, we will go out to sell near 3,000 roses that the supportive students of Badalona have created with their own hands.

The weekend of the 20th of March we participated in Muestra of documentaries in Olot.doc at the capital of the district of the Garrotxa. The view of “A Khmer Tale” took place Saturday 21 of March at 23:00h. From Tomando Conciencia we want to thank at the organization of Olot.doc and specially to Jordi Teis for the treatment that has rendered to us.

Colombia (2009)

Nowadays the Infantile Audiovisual School (IAS) of Belén de los Andaquíes, place where in 2008 we financed the construction of the new school, is broadcasting photofilms and TV content from a room with very limited resources.
For this reason, Tomando Conciencia has decided to help finance the construction of a multipurpose classroom during August of 2009. This classroom will be the place for scholastic reinforcement, the set for local TV broadcasting and some of the radio programs will be retransmitted form there.
With this project we are investing on the future of the young people of Belén de los Andaquíes, since the local television channel today is already a reality and a very important source of income for the IAS, and also a great publicity channel for the town within the department of Caquetá.

Badalona, Infantile Audiovisual Workshop (2009)

In the beginning of 2009 we have started our first project in Catalonia in collaboration with Fundació Arsis, concretely in the district of Raval in Badalona.
In the Infantile and Youthful Educative Center we are giving multidisciplinary classes (writing, photography and video) with the objective that children can create photofilms. At the same time this center provides activities for scholastic reinforcement, education in values, prevention of scholastic failure, violence and marginalization.

The town hall of Alella (Barcelona) and the Comissió de Cooperació Internacional of the same village planned ‘Mirades al món’ a conferences cooperation wich objective are make aware about the problems and the inequalities of some people around the world and how we can collaborate for try to change and to sort out this situation.

Tomando Conciencia va took part of this conferences last saturday 8th of november. There we had a small parade where we explained the project of Colombia -subsidize for the same town hall of Alella- and the visitors could buy merchandasing of the NGO, the dvd of the documentary ‘A Khmer Tale’, postal cards for Christmas or artesenals bracelets of Colombia.

Gisela Miñana, member of the Comissió de Cooperació Internaciona the Alella, told to us why they subsidize the project of Tomando Conciencia.
